Well, again this year, it seems summer has arrived a little early! I hope you are enjoying the warmer temperatures. I, for one, am very happy to be past the incredibly chilly winter we experienced from last November until just a few weeks ago!
It is time again to convey our annual offer to provide you with a copy of the current “ADV Part 2” document which we file with the Securities and Exchange Commission for our Investment Advisory Registration. If you would like to receive a photocopy, just let us know. We would be more than happy to provide one to you.
The second item is to remind you to let us know immediately if you wish to make any changes in your investment portfolio, if your financial situation has changed or you want to place any restrictions on the management parameters that are being utilized. Also enclosed with this letter, you will find the required copy of our Privacy Policy.
Even though the economy is probably still in recession, the stock market experienced a surprising recovery in stock values during the past year. Since the 3rd quarter of 2009, we here at CFI very cautiously moved back into both stock and bond market positions. We increased our domestic and international positions in the areas we feel are most likely to experience the best profitability -- while maintaining careful control over volatility risks.
Regarding your investment portfolios, we completed our reconciliation for the first quarter of 2010. I am pleased to say that, so far this year, our accounts have generally had good profits. However, the performance in some of the insurance subaccount portions was not as strong as we would have liked. Our average account performance from the “Bear Market” start, which began in October 2007, through the current period remains excellent (substantially smaller losses, 4% to %5) compared to the S&P 500 Index which is still down almost 20%. As you know, I am required to tell you that past performance is no guarantee of future results and all investments have risk. These two facts are the basis of why Couture Financial concentrates first and foremost on reducing the volatility risks in your portfolio.
It is very likely we may see another down leg in this market, possibly even the start of a new “Bear Market” before the end of the year. You may rest assured we will remain diligent in our research (both fundamentally and technically) with our consulting analysts. As we have in the past, we will adjust your accounts as necessary to help protect them from the more severe market fluctuations.
Call me with any questions and/or if you wish to make any changes as mentioned above. Tell your family and friends about the excellent service we are providing for you and let them know we would be delighted to provide the same for them.
